i am deeply fascinated by portraits of unknown people.



sooner or later everyone is forgotten, and the pictures that were created to capture the individual facial features – or even the unique personality of a person – join the many similar portraits of people from the same time and social class, posing in a similar style.

for this “afterimage” i layered the images of forgotten Hollywood actresses from the 1930s and created a new portrait that probably looks similar to some other forgotten movie star from that era ...
